SESLab은 사회-경제적 시스템 연구에 관심있는 대학원생 여러분을 모집하고 있습니다. SESLab 연구실이 관심있는 사회-경제적 시스템의 예로는 기업간의 거래망, 국제 기업 조직, 군사/정보 조직, 일반 사회 단체, 그리고 점차 발생하는 첨단 시장 (스마트 그리드 시장)등이 있습니다. SESLab은 학생들에게 사회-경제적 시스템의 원리 및 현상에 대한 연구와 연구 과정에서 파생되는 현장 경험을 제공합니다.

SESLab에서 자주 이용되는 연구 방법론은 다음과 같으며, 아래와 같은 연구 방법론에 관심이 있는 학생들의 지원을 환영합니다.

- 에이전트 기반 모델링

- 게임 이론

- 시뮬레이션 이론 전반

SESLab의 또다른 특징은 연구 결과물을 현실에 바로바로 적용시킨다는 점입니다. 그런면에서 다음의 분야에 관심있는 학생들의 지원 역시 환영합니다.

연구실 교육을 통해, SESLab이 추구하는 점은 다음과 같습니다.

예를 들어 랩에 들어온 후, 

1) 연구 방법론에 관심있는 학생은 연구 방법론을 심도 있게 배울 것이며, 여러가지 현실 문제에 심도깊게 연구한 방법론을 적용시키기 위해 노력할 것입니다. 

2) 현실 문제에 관심있는 학생은 관심 있는 현실 문제에 대해 자세히 배우며, 심도깊게 고민한 현실문제에 여러가지 연구 방법론을 적용시키기 위해 노력할 것입니다.

SESLab에 관심있는 학생은 이메일과 함께 본인의  Curriculum Vitae를 문일철 교수(icmoon@kaist.ac.kr)에게 보내주세요. SESLab에 들어오기 위해 유일한 필요사항은 지원자가 현재 혹은 적어도 6개월 이내에 KAIST 대학원생이라는 사항입니다. 

전문 연구 능력이나 현실 문제에 대한 전문 지식을 대학원생 지원자가 이미 가지고 있는 경우는 거의 없습니다. 그리고 그런 연구 능력과 전문 지식을 배우기 위해 대학원 교육을 받는 것입니다. 그러므로 위와 같은 연구 분야에 관심이 있다는 점만 명확하다면, 그 학생은 연구실에서도 잘 생활하고, 성공적으로 졸업할 수 있을 것이라고 믿습니다.

SESLab is actively seeking new graduate students interested in the field of complex socio-economic systems. SESLab offers graduate level education as well as practical field experience. 

Students may find interests in the methodologies, which are the research venue of SESLab, of 

- Agent based modeling

- Game theories

- Theories of modeling and simulations

Another venue of the interests is the application of the research to the real-world complex socio-economic systems, such as

- Industrial organization

- Intelligence analysis.

Through the education of graduate students, the goal of SESLab is 

1) deepening the student's interested area, 

2) experiencing the adjacent area of interests, and

3) producing a good resume for the student's future career path.

For example. a group of students who are theoretically oriented will have opportunities for deeper understanding of their interested methodologies and a selected few applications. Another group of students who are interested in the practical applications will have opportunities for deeper understanding of their interested real-world domains and a selected few methodologies.

The only prerequisite for joining SESLab is that applicants should be an enrolled student in the near future, approx. 6 months. Very few students have either research skill or expert knowledge, and that is why you are getting graduate school education. Besides of being a KAIST student, only the strength of an applicant's motivation matters.
